I've been trying to get the hang of cat action photography and spent half an hour teasing my two kittens with a feathers-on-a-string toy with a remote camera trigger in my hand . They'll both jump for the toy and Loki is particularly athletic and will sometimes do back flips and other various flying leaps (if he runs for the toy on the ground and I yank it into the air at the right time that usually gets the strange mid-air poses). It's pot luck as to what pose I capture and whether I manage to trigger the shutter when he's in frame so I have lots of completely rubbish shots from the session .
I've cropped out the feather from this shot which is about two foot above him, so I think I must have yanked it up as he went for it and perhaps it was to one side of him so he's rolling as well as flipping in mid air!
Can i just ask how you got your cat to do that or why he did that!
